Special Offers in 2026

Discover the magic of Livingstone with our exclusive offers!

Chundukwa River Lodge is proudly owner-run by Doug and Gail, who live on-site and are very much involved in the operation of the lodge. Known for its wild, natural beauty, our lodge is surrounded by ancient trees, abundant birdlife and the Zambezi River. Just 25km from Livingstone town, we offer the perfect escape from the busy tourism hub - peaceful, authentic and close to nature.

Doug, one of Zambia’s most respected horsemen, has a passion for horses and guests are encouraged to wander through the stables, meet the horses and even enjoy a guided ride if they wish. For those wanting to explore further, a Victoria Falls Day Trip can easily be arranged. A private driver and vehicle will be at your disposal for the day, allowing you to visit the majestic Falls, browse the vibrant curio markets and explore fascinating spots like the Livingstone Museum at your own pace.

On-site, you’ll find a variety of experiences to choose from - sunset cruises, guided nature walks, birding and more. If there's anything you would really like to do, let us know and we will do our best to make it happen!

Come as guests, leave as friends. At Chundukwa River Lodge, your Zambezi story begins.

  • After the seasonal rains arrive in December/January, the Zambezi River and its tributaries begin to rise and Victoria Falls roars to life once again. By late February to March, visitors can witness the Falls in their full, majestic power. The tremendous noise and swirling mist give rise to its Tonga name, “The Smoke That Thunders.”

During this period, the sheer volume of water creates massive spray, often obscuring parts of the Falls from view, but this is also when visitors can truly experience the awe-inspiring Zambezi shower—a full sensory immersion in the mist and spray!

While this is prime viewing time, the high water levels mean that certain water-based activities like white water rafting and swimming in the Devil’s Pool may be suspended for safety reasons. Nonetheless, the spectacle of Victoria Falls during the high-water season is unforgettable, offering a dramatic encounter with one of nature’s greatest wonders.
